The One I Want: A single dad, nanny, small town romance (Rolling Hills Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 592 ratings

I fled the city to get my life together. Not to fall in love with the single dad.

My name is Betsy Sullivan, and I’m a hot mess.

My parents have cut me off. No jobs interest me. I have no idea what I want for my future.

Then there’s my love life. Or lack thereof.

So I do what every twenty-something does when she’s lost—pack up my life and move to a small town in Tennessee.

I didn’t expect to find—and fall in love with—Wes Taylor.

I tried to resist. I swear.

Then I saw how much he loves his kids. And how hot his professional football player body looks like in a pair of gray sweatpants.

And once he kissed me? I was a goner.

For the first time in my life, I finally feel like my life has purpose.

I should have known that some things are too good to be true.

Because I’m Betsy Sullivan. The hot mess. The lost soul.

And I might be ready to spend my life with Wes Taylor.

I just don’t know if he’s ready to spend his life with me.

This has everything I love in an
exceptional romcom - the trash talk between friends who are closer than brothers and always have your back, small-town charm and quirks, and clever banter and sparkling chemistry between the hero and heroine. Add in three adorable kids, fake southern charm and a mean girl to the mix, and I'm done. It's my first romance from this talented storyteller and I'm a new fan for life! — Goodreads reviewer

I love single dad heroes, and Wes Taylor has snagged the top spot on my list of favorites! The One I Want is swoony, steamy, and funny - everything I enjoy in a romance. Add in a charming small town and an entertaining group of friends, and well, it just doesn't get better than this.

Add in three adorable kids, fake southern charm and a mean girl to the mix, and I’m done. It’s my first romance from this talented storyteller and I’m a new fan for life!

Wes Taylor had it all. A great football career, fame and fortune, and a wife and three children who were his world. Until he decided to retire from football and his wife walked out on him and his children. So he takes his kids and moves back to his small home town, knowing that having family close will help his children adjust to their new normal without their mother.

What he doesn’t expect is his parent's neighbor, Betsy Sullivan. His younger daughter connects with Betsy immediately, his son adores her completely, and Betsy has a way of reaching his older daughter who's to old and wise for her age. Wes knows he needs to hire a nanny to help his family get through the end of the football season, and Betsy is a natural choice.

Betsy has failed at every job she ever had, and she's had a lot of them. But there's something about the Taylor children that bring out the protector and defender in her, and she'll do anything to help ease their loss and make them smile. Her attraction to their father is a dangerous thing however, because, if acted on, it could destroy her relationship with his children, something she values above all else.

This sweet, charming romance is full of heart, with just the right amount of angst, and these characters effortlessly stole my heart. I love the small-town setting and the sense of community and family. It’s funny and light-hearted but touching and emotional, and you won’t want to miss a second of this delightful, phenomenal, full-of-feels romance.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the chemistry between Wes and Betsy was great. I was grateful it didn’t take Wes to long to get out if his own way there at the end. Betsy was a natural with the kids and it was wonderful to see her bloom.

As a stepmom I think the single dad trope will always hit me a little differently. It’s easier to put myself in the heroine’s shoes because I’ve been there. This one was so well written and I found myself relating to both Betsy and Wes.

Betsy moved to Rolling Hills to be closer to her best friend and get a fresh start. She finds an instant connection with Wes and his kids and Wes hires her to be his nanny. He was recently left by his wife and is playing in his last season in the NFL so his life has changed drastically in the last few months.

I loved Betsy’s relationship with each of Wes’ kids. She had a special bond with each of them and fiercely protected them as if they were her own kids. Both Betsy and Wes fight their attraction, and I’m glad they did because that allowed Wes to start a relationship with Betsy as a free man instead of a man who was technically still married. I loved the friendship they started and how easily they opened up to each other. They were very open and honest about their feelings and that made their bond even stronger.

This was a great fist book to this series. It introduced a whole new cast of characters that I can’t wait to learn more about. Wes’ childhood friend group is full of different personalities and I think each will bring something different to the series. I can’t wait for Oliver’s book next! The romantic elementary school teacher!!!

Wes is retiring from football when he gets home his wife and mother of his 3 kids is packed and said bye. He moves home and his parents nexts door neighbor is new and hot and gng to be his new nanny. Their relationship is cute. Not a lot of hot scenes. It happens mostly closed door. Truly a family story with friends and kids being part of their life. I wanted a better HEA. It was there but not complete.

"Swoony" that's how this story was . "The One I want" by Chelle Sloan is so cute and fluffy story 🥹. With the trope : nanny -single father and second chance, it was so damn awesome 💕. And the friendship between Wes and friends group and of Betsy and Whitley , it's the friendship you crave for ❣️.
I loved how sweet their family turned into. Cara was a b*tch but at least because of her we got this beautifull fam in the end right 🥹💕.

And Mann the kids, they are so sweet and lovely. Emerson , she is totally my girl , that's me. Also hank and Mag .At first I thought they were twins coz of how cute they are. 🤭

If you all are looking for a cute funny story , this is totally it.

Newly divorced and nearing the end of his football career, Wes meets Betsy. Betsy is all over the place, but she is just what he needs to make him and his kids smile again. I laughed, I cried, and I swooned...A LOT. I instantly fell in love with Wes and Betsy and can't wait to see what else is in store for Rolling Hills.
