I have yet to read a book by this author that i didn’t love. Her characters are flawed and complex in a way that’s relatable compared to that typical flaws you tend to see in this genre.
Even when some of the stories haven’t gone the way I had hoped I still was blown away and satisfied. This felt true with this book. Seth was so complicated i wasn’t sure he deserved redemption I’m still not. Yet I’m totally in love with their love story and dynamic.

I’m not sure how she makes me feel like i am embedded in the story too but I love every minute of it. Off to go traumatize myself with another of her books (in the best way)

Oh my word! I was immediately pulled in from the prologue, I wasn't expecting that! I didn't read the synopsis and am so glad I that I didn't.

The majority of this book takes place in the 90's and I graduated high school in the mid 90's, so it immediately grabbed my attention.

It's raw and gritty and filled with so much ansgt! Laura and Seth are complete polar opposites. He's driven and she's not! He's an over-achiever and she just goes through life guarding her heart.

"I was a little morally screwed up. I found my footing though, and I took the hard road to do it. I figured out a few things.

Oh yeah, what did you figure out?

That I am nothing without God. I was right about money, it isn't everything, and I am more capable than I or anyone else thought.

So there's no hero for you?

I am my own hero."

Wait, what! Kate's an author who you must read! Thank you for letting me be a part of Seth and Laura's lives. It was an incredible journey!

Damn! I just can't get enough of Kate Stewart's work. After I had read The Fall I knew, I needed to know the origin story of Laura and Seth. Even though I knew they got their happy ending, I was still intrigued by how they got it and what they had to go through to get there.
This was her first book and yet I couldn't tell. It felt rich and full of her interesting and complex characters, who's going through real and relevant problems.

It doesn't matter what actions her characters make, if their horrible wrong, she somehow manages to make them likable no matter what. I loved Laura and Seth. Their oppositeness and how they change each other for the better.
Kate Stewart knows how to write a sexy scene. The way she uses words are flawless. They just jump from the pages. I could feel Laura and Seth's attraction and it was intense and strong like hell.

I had to curse a few times because of Laura and Seth's stubbornness and stupidity when it came to their feelings. But that's what makes a book GREAT! When I feel the words and the characters actions.
Their love and journey was exquisite and captured me from page 1. I had to go through a lot to get my happy ending. But it was worth it. Kate Stewart's writing is sublime. It keeps a tight grip on me and doesn't let go until I reach the final page. I'm ready for more.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It started off good but lost me in the middle but then got me back a bit in the last 25%. At its heart this is a story of a wild child/free spirit girl and a straight laced boy who fall in love and all of the ups and downs of their relationship. I really liked how they first met, it was very cute and I loved Laura’s snark combined with Seth’s cockiness. The start of their relationship was fun and I loved how they kept crossing paths and ultimately got together. Laura was the 90s equivalent of a hippie, basically just doing what she has to do so she can live the free and fun lifestyle that suited her in her early 20s. Seth is an ambitious young man, working 3 jobs with his life carefully planned out. On paper they are complete opposites but oddly their relationship worked, until it doesn’t. And that’s where the book lost me a little, I understand what the author was trying to do with the drama that unfolded however it felt forced and I didn’t believe it. I don’t want to give any spoilers but I think there were a couple of other things she could have done prior to that scene that would have made me buy what happened a little more. You’ll understand if you read it. But then there’s a time jump, a pretty sizable one, and from there I started to like the book again. The author did a good job of making the time jump smoothly, filling in the gaps quickly while still moving the story ahead. I didn’t feel jarred by the jump in time and ultimately I liked where the story ended.

Overall I thought this was a decent book, the concept for the story was good there were just a few things in the execution that got me a little hung up. Sometimes the dialogue was a little tricky to follow, there’d be like 6 lines of back and forth dialogue without a single ‘he said, she said’ so often times I really couldn’t tell who was speaking because there really was no distinguishing factor in the dialogue. And some of the characters reactions to certain things were off and I couldn’t understand what was motivating them. These things came and went though and there were times where the writing was very good. So like I said at the start, it was an up and down ride for me but overall not a bad book!

Well I started this book yesterday evening and just finished it this morning, if that tells you anything about how much I loved it! Kate Stewart has such a beautiful (albeit painful at times!) way of conveying heartbreak, love and the phases of life that change us as people. A great read for those of us with big hearts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story

We had a rare event on the Isle of Man this week. Sunshine yep lots of it. So I had a decision to make, cooking, cleaning or reading? Well the reading won of course and I sat down in the conservatory to soak up the sun and began to read Room 212 by Kate Stewart.

The story got to me very quickly so quickly that I hit the roof when my husband banged on the window tilting his head towards the kitchen. I responded titling my eyes pointing my thumb and dropping head at in the direction of my Kindle. He got the message and left me to get on with my important job - reading. He wanted coffee by the way.

So I sat undisturbed soaking up the sun and soaking up Room 212.

The story begins with Laura Segwick standing in room 212. Recapturing what happened in there the day before.

She knew she was a glutton for punishment.

She should clean room 212 and leave the memory of him behind.

She should come to her senses but that was something she hadn’t done since he had shown his face.

The pillow she held still smelled of him

She knew there was no erasing Seth Whitaker and when tomorrow came she knew she would still be clinging to the pillow.

Laura Sedgwick hated love. Love had ruined every single day of her life for as long as she could remember and for the second time in her life she declared war on love and on Seth Whitaker.

She remembered being 21.

She remembered the day Seth Whitaker came into her life. She was just coming out of a humdinger of a relationship she wasn’t ready to start another one. Nope she wasn’t ready for Seth Whitaker but karma was when it hit her right in the mouth. Laura is in charge of her life. She lives it on her own terms, makes her own choices but meeting Seth changes all that. Laura finds it hard to control that destiny and despite fighting to hold onto it she gives in and hands over her heart to Seth.

I loved what this author has produced. That it started with the ending of a love story. I had to find out what happened in Room 212. It was a unique and powerful story of redemption, evolution and second chance love but what was also was unique is that there was no trilogy. It started, it developed and it ended without the proverbial cliff hanger.

Kate Stewart is now on my radar. I am off to read Titan and look forward to the next release from Kate Stewart………….oh and my husband got his coffee eventually .

a great story and worth every star.

I loved this book and found it frustrating at the same time. There were a few editing errors but nothing that ruined the read. The characters were interesting and not one dimensional. It was a great love story and then Seth just let me down. Could he really have loved Laura that much if he could do what he did without a second look back? I enjoyed the last third of the book. Would have preferred a bit more effort on Seth's part. Found him a bit too selfish. Still well written with a nice epilogue. An enjoyable and heartfelt read.
