- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018I'm an elementary school teacher and another teacher recommended this book to read to my class during winter time. Since I wanted to make a snowglobe activity in which students' pictures were used as a family keepsake, I knew this would make a great way to tie literacy to the art craft. There are two families involved in the story; the real family who has a forgotten snow globe on the mantle and the family within the snow globe. As I read it aloud in class, I had to call attention to the two different families so that students understood what was happening. They enjoyed seeing how the lives of both families paralleled each other, from having the same family members (mother, father, brother, sister, and baby) and getting their wish of a snow day. SPOILER: At the end of the story both families were resting/sleeping from a fun-filled day of playing in the snow and the snow globe wishing for another blizzard soon. And, we are left with the cat spying a mouse hiding behind the snow globe on the mantle ready to pounce, foreshadowing the next "blizzard" not too far off. Beautiful illustrations, especially the ones showing what the snow globe family does when the globe is shaken; baby flying through the air and kids dangling from the chandelier! Lovely and very well done.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2023Kids enjoyed it. We did a narrative writing activity to accompany it. Kids told a story about what happened when they got stuck in a snow globe and then drew a scene from their story. Worked great with 4th graders.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2024This book is so cute and creative. I love the story being told from the perspective of a family living in the snow globe and how they precieve the world.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018I bought this book to read to my kids (ages 5 and 6) on a snowy day. The story was simple enough for them to follow and answer question in the end. The pictures were sweet and added humor to the text. While I bought to read to my own kids, I think I will also read it aloud to my 5th grade students as I think they will equally appreciate the story and pictures (the end offers an opportunity it to make an inference). I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 because the book has a nice story but doesn’t offer any heartwarming message or memorable lessons. Still a nice story in all.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2013This book has a great story and beautiful pictures. I used it to show a first grade class what fantasy is. "There could not be a real family living in a snow globe." I loved the way the plot was laid out - the baby was the only one who was interested any more in the snow globe; the illustrations show him eying it from his mother's lap. Then, when a real snowstorm occurs, the older children go outdoors with their dad, and sure enough, Baby finds some furniture and climbs up to get the snow globe. The illustrations show what happens to the family in the globe when Baby, true to form, shakes the globe vehemently and the family inside slips and slides all over the place. We made a snow globe with paper plates after this read-aloud. This book is definitely a good addition to my library.

Delivery was early and perfect! This book is wonderful to open children's imaginations to what it would be like to live in a snow globe. Promotes discussion about what they would imagine their snow globe to look like. I am a school librarian and the students love this book.

Super story to be used with EYFS / KS1 to introduce winter theme or on a snow day. We followed this up with a 'if I was in a snowglobe...' craft and writing activity.
