Anne Gracie is a gifted writer. The story of Hugo and Kit is well done. Kit's character is refreshing. She is out to undo the wrong's forced on her scape-grace father. Hugo is out to protect his naive nephew from the clutches of a unsuitable heiress. Turns out the heiress isn't even interested in the nephew nor an heiress. But Hugo doggedly pursues her and ends up with a stolen heart. Truly a good story about a thief that is honorable.

Well worth the time to read, and enjoy. Kit and Hugo are fun to see together and the interaction is lively.

Like the plot - a twist from the norm of thief turn good. Like the build up between Hugo and Kit. Not one of Ms Gracie's finest, but still good reading.

Sigh. Would that I had an Anne Gracie book to read 365 days a year. Loved Kit and Hugo’s story…one of my favorite Gracie reads. Just needed an epilogue of course. Every romance needs an epilogue.

An honorable thief is enough different from the formulaic plots and characters that I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The characters drive the plot and the plot is twisty enough without being artificially so. Finally a book where I feel as if I would really like to know the characters if I ever met them!

Anne Gracie is one of my favorite authors. When I see her name on a book I know I am getting a great read. Ms. Gracie book have humor, tears, love and great secondary characters. This book did not disappoint at all and I had to read it into the early mornings to finish it...yes another book hangover for work..but well worth it!!
Our heroine is Kit Singleton who has had a unstable life in the since that her mother died when she was young and her father was pretty much on the run from all of his cheating and cons that he is doing. He even had poor Kit dress as a boy for most of her young childhood. Anyway on his death bed he asked Kit to seek revenge on some of his young friends from the past. She finally agrees which sets her on the path to go to England to try to do this promise for him. This sets her in the path of our hero, Mr. Hugo Devenish who thinks she is after his nephew to trap him into marriage. This sets the story of of Hugo and Kit coming together to overcome a lot of misconceptions and uncertainty to find their love. I really loved this book and hope that you do too!!

I have been looking for a new author to compare with Garwood, Hunter, Lindsey and I found her in Anne Gracie. I bought all of her books but did not buy the Harlequin books because they are always the first written and are usually a beginner's book and not very good. There were three Harlequin's that she wrote then she went on to another publisher and I can highly recommend all of them, they are original, interesting and hard to put down. However, this was the second Harlequin book she wrote and cannot tell you how many times I was tempted to just throw it into the trash. It is horribly written, completely dull, and there is absolutely no story plot. On top of all that the heroine is a thief who admittedly stole from her aunt's friends just because her dying daddy who was transported to a penal colony made her promise to! He was a card cheat. It made her out to be shallow, slow witted and completely without morals. I finally went to the very last ten pages just to see how this ridiculous book ended and then I threw it in the trash! Do not waste your money or time on this book. Her other books are great!

I'm usually a huge fan of Anne Gracie's books; her capacity for sparking dialogue and engrossing plot are usually a perfect combination.

However, this one fell a bit flat. I think the plot was just too...fantastic. A girl who enters London society after living in far-flung places, brought up with no notion of the strict Regency society she finds herself thrust into, having been raised by a father who was negligent about her upbringing. But she has learned to be a thief during her extremely unconventional upbringing and an excellent impersonator of a china-man? No, sorry. It's just a stretch too far-fetched for my liking!

The hero is dashing and charming, but it was a bit of a slog to get them to their happily-ever-after
