Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.
Endless Yearning
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.
Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

Disappointment over Dark Skye? Inconceivable. At this rate I'm wondering when we'll start seeing Kresley Cole's face on Wheaties Cereal boxes. Breakfast of Champions.
Five hundred years ago Lanthe and Thronos met by accident as children. While Thronos is a Vrekener, a winged, behorned creature, Melanthe belongs to the Sept of Sorceri - an enemy to the Vrekeners. When Thronos sensed she would one day become his mate none of that mattered and they became the best of friends. Until one terrible night destroyed both their families and made them sworn eternal enemies. Now as Lanthe and Thronos flee the island where thousands of immortal Lore creatures were imprisoned they will finally face each other...and their own mistakes and misconceptions.
This book has basically all my favorite romance tropes: childhood friends, enemies-to-lovers, a virgin hero (yeah not a trope but VIRGIN HERO). `Nuff said. Lanthe and Thronos had sizzling chemistry but what makes it my favorite romance of the series is the trust and friendship they share. It isn't easy getting there but the journey is incredible. In many ways Dark Skye is about journeys. There is oodles of relationship development, giving it a very character-driven feel...but what makes it even better is that it's actually a wild adventure from the very first page to the very last. The steady character development and fast paced storyline was totally seamless. This is storytelling at its finest, folks. I would faithfully await an interminable number of years between releases for books like this.
In no particular order here's a few more things that make me altogether adore Dark Skye:
1. Melanthe: She's ousted her sister Sabine from her place as my favorite heroine in the series. It was a serious catfight - we all know how Sabine hates sharing the spotlight. Melanthe is unapologetic about the way she lives her life and 100 percent comfortable with herself. She's smart and brave but flawed in very real ways. I just loved her attitude and really connected with her character.
2. Thronos: I like reading alpha males but they can be infuriatingly unbending. Although he got off to a rough start I admired his willingness to change and look at the world in ways that challenge everything he thought was true. He's big, sexy, a little complicated...and completed devoted to Melanthe. The virgitude didn't hurt either. He's earned a place in my highly exclusive harem of book boyfriends. And his honesty? So. Damn. Refreshing.
3) Worldbuilding: Dark Skye takes readers to all new settings in the Lore, allowing no time to miss the old ones. KC has already created a sprawling world of many immortal paranormal creatures in the Lore. From a kingdom floating in the sky to a clash of opposing cultures this book enriches that world with each new scene.
4) Series Direction: My biggest complaint for the IAD is that it seems to lack some overall direction. Every 500 years the Accession, a mystical checks and balances, forces immortals to war and kill each other off. It's basically population control. Dark Skye has inched that progress forward a bit, given readers some clues about characters and events. While more progression is preferable after a few somewhat static books every other component of Dark Skye was spot on for me, and at this point I'm nitpicking. Besides I don't think I'll mind if this series goes on forever.
5) Old Friends: There were a few guests appearances, including a shoutout to Lothaire, the Enemy of Old (who is as mad as every, BTW). Throw in a couple of Sorceri, a few demons and a Valkyrie or three and Dark Skye is seriously mixing it up. But what about everyone's favorite, the one and only predeterminationally-abled Nix the Ever Knowing? She's back and more confusing - and hilarious - than ever.
And since I know you're a cheeky little monkey and just want to know how steamy this book really is: it's smoking hot. Oh, is it steamy.
The Immortals After Dark series has every element that makes for excellent paranormal romance, and it has it in droves. It's also utterly unmatched in sexiness. Dark Skye was everything I couldn't conceive to hope it would be. The love story, the comedy (KC has a crackling sense of humor), the edge-of-your seat excitement...it's one of those books that makes me feel the need to write a handwritten thank-you to the author.
Also. Virgin hero.
So. Worth. The. Wait. And boy have we been waiting for Lanthe and Thronos’s story! We first got introduced to them in Kiss of a Demon King back in Jan 2009, eight Immortals After Dark books ago! I was mixed on this couple. Half of me was dying to read about the tragic love story between Lanthe and Thronos while the other half of me wondered if I could connect with Lanthe (who sleeps around ALOT trying to find love) and Thronos (who seemed extremely evil and deranged—at least from what the previous books teased about him). Well, Lanthe in the book calls their love story ‘epic’ and it freakin’ is! I’m glad my curious half won, because I absolutely loved their story. As a huge fan of the series that I am, this book completely exceeded my expectations! I mean, I knew the book was going to be good since it’s in the IAD world, but I hadn’t expected it to be one of my new favorites in the series!
So yes, I was afraid I wouldn’t love Lanthe and Thronos as much as previous IAD couples. I mean, Lanthe was a sweetie in past books, but she didn’t seem like a strong lead heroine, and Thronos just seemed—well, deranged and damaged in both body and soul. Well, it turns out that Lanthe is a complex, awesome, and absolutely strong lead while Thronos is—OMG, freaking swoon-worthy hottie material. Let’s just say that I now wish all my book boyfriends had wings like him. Wow.
We’ve got some smoking high heat level romance scenes and dialogue (both inner and outer) that seriously tugged at the heart. We basically have two best friends destined to be together being pulled apart in the worst possible way. They now have five *centuries* of bitterness and rage coming between them. Lanthe is Thronos’s fated mate, so he won’t give up on her, no matter how much she breaks his heart (and boy does she, although with good reason considering her past). Lanthe doesn’t believe in fated mates so he’s got to win her the good ole’ fashion way. I loved their romance and how they were clearly meant to be together despite being members of two races warring with each other.
The book has plenty of death-defying moments and serious close calls that are a staple in the IAD series. We get to visit new worlds and planes as Lanthe’s ability to portal anywhere goes wonky. The description and settings are so creative and show the author’s talent at world-building. The characterization was my favorite. I really got to know Lanthe and Thronos and ended up loving them more than I could imagine. Their love story is heart-breaking and beautiful, and the ending is amazing! There are plenty of familiar faces for fans of IADs and little Easter Eggs as fans can connect scenes from different books together. On the down side, if you’ve never read Sabine’s book, Kiss of a Demon King, this one spoils it so read that one first!
This is a long book so don’t plan on finishing it in one sitting unless you have plenty of time to spare! I didn’t want to put it down! This is a 5 out of 5 for me!
“You smell like sky. And home…To me, you smell like no one else in the world ever has, or ever will.”—Thronos

Well, I expected more wrath, more resentfullness from his side - above all when he didn't believe Lanthe at first. I think he got "soft" rather quickly. His inner struggle could have been dragged on a little longer.
The travel through the worlds was a little too much, though very interesting (perhaps one or two worlds less?) - still I was amazed at Kresley Cole's imagination!
What I absolutely loved was the void in him when his memoy was stolen but he still felt her. Mrs Cole has the ability to let the reader feel the emotions of her characters - it was dramatic, hurtful and amazing to read these last chapters. Also the end was very ironic: Creatures of heaven living in hell. That is the humor Kresley Cole is famous for!
And of course now I am looking forward for Fury's story!
