I am a new but very big fan of Golden Angel. I have collected her freebies over the past few years but hadn't gotten around to reading much. That was a mistake. I could have enjoyed them sooner and loved them longer! The world she creates with a myriad of characters is just amazing. If you don't know what you're getting into when you crack open one of her books shame on you its pretty clear. If you're criticizing the book based on its obvious content, again shame on you but also me thinks thoust protest too much. The series is called bridal discipline and that concept is not for everyone but it is for me and I enjoy it. This is a very well done story. It is well written and yes, its a bit heavy with "scenes" but, well, they're really hot! So, bring it on.

I always enjoy the golden angel books, especially the domestic discipline ones. I enjoy the fast pace plot but slow burn romances. I find the sex scenes to be steamy but not cringey & I enjoy that she likes to spice things up, where a lot of erotica has a lot of repetitive sex scenes.

I also like the universe she has created, where she brings in characters from her other books and shows how they've changed and interact with the new characters. I also like that is has a historic setting, which I always enjoy.

The doms that she writes are also a strong pull. They can be soft and gentle, and clearly care deeply about their spouses. In this book, Phillip encourages Cordelia to assert herself and helps empower her. Even though it's erotica, the romance feels believable to me. Their relationship is more then just sex. However, they can also be firm, while never losing themselves.

Cordelia was so grateful for Philip's proposal. It was looking like she would have to become some man's mistress. She was flat broke with a step-daughter to support. Then Philip met her and asked her to marry him. As time went on, they grew closer. But Gabrielle was a thorn in everybody's side with a wapish tongue 😝. Finally, Philip had had enough! Cordelia had taken her disrespect for years because the Baron had neglected them both. Philip ended up spanking Gabrielle, her first ever discipline. And then he spanked his wife. Cordelia fell in love with her husband, but she didn't know if he loved her. Finally, Gabrielle did something so outrageous that she was completely ruined. But you will have to read the book for yourself. You get to see the transformation what a little discipline can do. I dearly loved this book and can hardly wait for the next book. This is definitely an adult only reading. I want to say this story is absolutely delightful and has a happily ever after ending. You definitely need to get this book. It's addictive in a good way!

I liked this story, and the steam was high, especially for a historical. Based on the series name, I expected a bit more discipline, but as someone who isn't really into that, it was a perfect amount. I wasn't a fan of Gabrielle, but can't wait for her to get her comeuppance in the next book.

Listening to the audiobook was awful, and I'm honestly not sure why I didn't give up on it. The narrator had an okay voice, but there were issues with the sound/background noise and his female voicing was just comical. It also seemed like he wasn't British, as quite a few of the historical words were mispronounced and it often seemed like there was no accent used in places. If I hadn't received the audio as a gift, I would have been very annoyed at wasting a credit or my money on it.

After the death of her Baron husband Lady Cordellia marries Philip Stanley the Marquess of Danbury. Cordelia would have had a fairy tale marriage if it wasn’t for her step-daughter Gabrielle who manipulates Cordelia and gives her bad advice. Philip sees that Gabrielle is trying to do to Cordelia and helps to build her confidence and blossom into a positive woman. I really enjoyed this wonderful historical romance novel.

once you drop your prejudice and get into the mindset the book goes for.
Not my usual subgenre but I have to say I was highly entertained and connected to the characters (even the annoying ones I couldn’t relate to so easily) - there’s quite a good amount of diverse characters (even if they’re all fit to some type of cliche) to appeal to everyone and make the series go.
Good writing, easy reading flow and some very sexy scenes make it a great read.

Cordelia is a widow with a stepdaughter, Gabrielle, who is not much younger than she. She meets Philip at a house party. Gabrielle also tries to make a play for Philip at the same house party, but it is Cordelia he marries. He teaches Cordelia in the ways of love and domestic discipline. When Gabrielle acts out, Philip also disciplines her in front of Cordelia, so they present a united front. Gabrielle decides she no longer wants to live with Philip and Cordelia, and she sets out to elope. Philip had been unsure where Cordelia's loyalty lie until that night when Gabrielle is caught before eloping and becomes engaged to a different man. Will that help Cordelia and Philip to have a strong union?

I enjoyed this book. It is much softer than the Stronghold Doms or Daddies and Doms series, Ms. Angel writes. The historical time period is very much in play here as how society views a person or a family determines whether a person is accepted into society or not. Cordelia had to learn a lot as she is no longer in the country but London. Gabrielle is spoiled but has good examples placed before her. She needs to see them and learn. I liked Philip's patience with both ladies. I also appreciated how Domestic Discipline is shown here. The punishment side as well as the pleasure side is shown.

I look forward to the rest of the series.

The characters are well developed. The book is well written and easy to read if you can get past the S&M. I had to force myself to finish because I am not comfortable with it. It really is the story. "Angel" apparently specializes in this type of romance, so I will not be reading her again.

3.0 out of 5 stars BDSM histórico - atenção SPOILERS
Reviewed in Brazil on January 30, 2021

Steamy regency style story of the main couple but plot turns mostly around the actions and character of Cordelia’s stepdaughter Gabby. Next book will explain her fate. Many other couples are mentioned as well, and I assume they all have a story too.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea
Reviewed in Italy on June 7, 2021
The story of an aristocrat and the sexual and sentimental education of his new submissive wife was not what I expected from an historical romance... But if you enjoy reading of spanking, bdsm and extremely detailed sex scenes it might be to your liking. My fault for not reading the description properly, but I might not be the only one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical Romance with BDSM thrown in
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 20, 2021
I find it amazing that anyone who has complained about this story, or written a bad review didn't actually read the blurb which states quite clearly ''Philip's Rules contains a stern Head of Household, corrective discipline, and steamy love scenes.'' if they had they'd have known what the story was about before they read it and then they could have simply changed their minds and found something else to read. To carry on reading after seeing the blurb and then write a negative review takes a special kind of person..... Don't likeErotica/BDSM, don't read, but more importantly don't be a first class' idiot' and write a negative review
Golden Angel is a fabulous author who grabs you into a story, has you wanting to scream at the characters and hug them in equal measure, well almost always.
Philip's Rules is an Historical Erotic/BDSM Novel, it is the story of how a Marquis who needs to wed to continue his family line, finds and weds a very young and innocent widow and their journey to a loving marriage with a wicked step-daughter thrown in for good measure.
Philip is a stern man, Cordelia an over accommodating widow and Gabrielle is the over indulged and spoilt orphan/step-daughter.
The story starts with the wedding and follows them all settling in to their new roles, Philip as a new husband, sort of stepfather/guardian, Cordelia as a new Wife & Marquess, and Gabrielle to being the ward of a Marquis who will not indulge her the way her late and neglectful father did. It's not a easy transition for any of them and Philip makes it clear that he wants a disciplined household and he isn't afraid to dish out punishment if needed and he does.
I love that Philip however doesn't get everything his own way and finds himself worried that he will always come second best to Gabrielle where Cordelia is concerned and that Cordelia realises she's actually stronger than she ever thought she could be.

The barbaric, masochist story is utterly distasteful. It could have turned so beautiful but all of it ruined by the sickness of characters. Punishment, my foot!
