Although many have never heard the name John P. Parker, his leadership transformed the nation. He could not sit idly on the sidelines and watch the inhumanity of slavery. He was once enslaved himself. He experienced firsthand the violence, brutality, dehumanization, and deprivation of slavery. He worked diligently to purchase his freedom and wanted others to realize this dream. He decided to take action by becoming a conductor on the Underground Railroad.
